John Nicolson (1828-1882) & Christina Sinclair (c1824-1902)
Hello,
Is anyone researching John Nicolson (1828-1882) and Christina Sinclair (c1824-1902)? They married on 12th February 1853 in Dunnet. They had at least four children...
John 1852-1873
Peter 1858-1881
Donald 1856-after 1882
David 1860-after 1871
John was one of triplets, and I have traced his two sisters - one of whom was my G.G.G. Grandmother, Janet Nicolson (1828-1882).
John Nicolson was a farm manager around Calder, Halkirk for a number of years. Their son Peter went to New Zealand and was lost at sea in 1881 aboard a ship called the Tararua off Waipapa Point, New Zealand. He had boarded the ship to travel from Port Chalmers, New Zealand to Melbourne and the vessel ran aground. Of approximately 151 people aboard, only 20 were saved.
I would love to hear from anyone researching the same family.
Regards,
Steven
