    hi im planning bees this year but i know nothing about them .has anyone got any info about getting a hive and a queen??,and how to keep them.??

    Olrig and district Beekeepers they have contact details on here. Get Bees through them rather than risk bringing disease up from south.

    Definately go to the Olrig Beekeepers and they will get you started - they run demos over the summer and will help you source bees locally and give you the opportunity to handle bees / do hive inspections etc. They also run beginners courses every year (normally around April time). In the meantime (since the bees are still wintering) get some good beekeeping books. There is also the Scottish beekeepers association and beebase websites which have loads of information. You really need to know what you are doing before you get your own hives.
