    Default Short Eared Owls

Saw a pair of short eared owls flying away from the ground, seemed to have been hiding amongst the heather. It was midday. Does this mean that this is where they are going to nest in the coming months or was it just a resting place?

They could have been down on a kill, would think it's a little early for them to be thinking of nesting but with the weather being so mild you never know.

They are getting amorous at the moment, establishing pair bonds and looking for mates. I t might be worth keeping an eye skywards and catching their big high ariel displays!! Its early for nesting but its all starting again.

The WeeBurdies and I were lucky enough to spot a pair of short-eared owls tonight, just outside Halkirk. :-)
