    Default "Friendly Fire"?

    Ferry receives US warship warning

A passenger ferry on the River Clyde was unwittingly caught up in an international war exercise.

All was well on this occasion, but, what if the position was reversed? Say for instance a British naval vessel had got involved say with the Staten Island Ferry? Might it have been explained away so easily?

Seems to me that once you have got past the sensationalised Media version you end up with a "Non-event".
All that happened is that a radio message was transmitted on a wrong channel to a vessel which should have been well aware of what was occurring.

An everyday equivalent would be an headline, "Dept. of Transport Employees put public at extreme risk!" Well, they let their Examiners loose on public roads with Learners, a proportion of which they know will probably fail their Driving Test.

All that happened was that an Exercise which was intended to show up problems and to assess peoples competence did exactly that. No more and no less.

When the Media try to take a story about things going as they are intended and try to present it as a near disaster they you have to wonder how many similar stories are being distorted in the same manner.

The way the story is presented is worthy of Jules Verne. Whoever wrote it should consider a move to writing Dr. Who scripts, their imagination is inventive enough.

Compo, I have spent many years around US forces people of all branches, and I beg to differ with you. But we're each entitled to our own opinion, of course!

True, my opinion is that they are Living Proof that Brain Death isnt Fatal.

Based on their Gulf War escapades where there so called "Friendly Fire" killed more British Troops than the Iraqi's !!
Why is there always some Month left at the end of the Money ??
