I'm so disappointed to logon tonight and see that Cassie hasn't been caught yet. I drove around the Ackergill/Reiss area late yesterday afternoon but obviously did not spot her.

The advice from Anne, the Dog Warden is sound and I'm confident Anne's experience and involvement will bring Cassie home safe.

Here's hoping for better news tomorrow.

I have a pans worth of venison boiled up freshly tonight (10ltrs) If you think that would help get her back....tempt her into a trap etc if you want.
As she sounds like a food oriented dog, and mine goes daft for it!

    Fingers still crossed here.

And all of us with dogs should all learn from this...

i hear via facebook, that cassie has been spotted tonight at gills.
and that the dog warden, and couple looking for her are there.
    fingers crossed they get her.
on the bright side, for now, at least we know she's alive and well.

    That's great news AnnMarie, thanks.

Let's leave them to it. The couple and the Dog Warden will need perfect peace in order to persuade Cassie to come to them.

Everything crossed that they bring Cassie home tonight.

You would think so - But how many threads have gone before saying "I just let my dog off the lead, and it ran away and now its lost...."?

Sorry to disappoint folks but i was there within 20 mins of the sighting and no sign of Cassie at all, once again she had vanished into thin air. Will head out first light again but really hoping for a phone call later that couple looking after Cassie for her owner, have got her and she is safely in the car !

Hear, hear Moira. MopTop, I hope that you can charm Cassie to come home with you. She must be a fly wee madam and will only come out of hiding for her Mum.... Good luck tomorrow.

Waited at Gills until ferry was loaded but no show, she was down on the link span this morning, the guys there tried to catch her but she ran off, they say if she shows up again they'll try and feed her.I feel I must point out that she was not let off her lead for a run on the beach but escaped from the car she was traveling in.Thanks again everyone for all your help and concern.

Good to know she still feels a connection with the ferry; let's hope they manage to win her trust through patience and food! Good luck to you all....

Hey, don't feel obliged to point anything out. We're all doing our best (well most of us are) to help you secure Cassie's safety.

Ignore the negativity from the perfect few and concentrate on bringing Cassie home safe tomorrow.

    All best.

Cassie the Dog dont beat yourself up, these things happen.

Cassie is not your average dog, she has proved this!

We are all desperate to get her to safety but at the end of the day it is her choice to keep running, when as you said she could be curled up in front of the fire being pampered

tomorrow is another day dont lose hope

Absolutely! I can vouch for the fact that these things happen.....

Fingers & Paws crossed for the best result tomorrow.

    Cassie, come home.

What a clever wee dog to find her way back to the Gills ferry area.
Got a feeling that shes waiting there to go home, fingers crossed

If Cassie wants to go home, then why not encourage her to get on the ferry at Gills - and then lock her inside until she is picked up?

    Ok, don't tell me - it's a stupid idea...

    Or is it?

Perhaps, because Cassie's owners are abroad right now and her "holiday carers" are in Caithness.

Anyhow, would you step onto a ferry, any ferry and not be scared by meeting Orkneycadian at the other end??!!

I meant "until her carers can pick her up" - at Gills - before the ferry leaves.

I know it's a dodgy plan, but nothing else has worked....
