Last chance to nominate your health hero

NOMINATIONS for the Scottish Health Awards 2011 are urgently being sought from local people across the Highlands before the deadline of Monday 12 September 2011.

Applications are flooding in from across Scotland but many more healthcare professionals and teams deserve to be celebrated so the public is being encouraged to nominate health heroes in their area for a top award.
This year is the tenth anniversary of the awards and the judges are once again looking for Scotland’s finest NHS workers and volunteers to be recognised at a glittering award ceremony.
There is an award category to celebrate the commitment of loyal staff from every area of healthcare. This year there are also a number of new categories including the Care for Long-Term Illness Award, Care at Home Award and Health Promoting Business Award.
Do you want to reward dedicated healthcare staff in the Highlands If so, this is your last chance to nominate individuals, such as therapists, GPs, specialist carers or the cleaners and cooks who work tirelessly behind the scenes of NHSScotland.
Anne Gent, NHS Highland Director of Human Resources, said: "I would urge our patients, members of the public and members of staff to nominate an individual or team they feel should be recognised as a Highland Health Hero.
"Our staff are known for going that extra mile and to have it recognised in this way brings a significant morale boost to the organisation."
