Default More cases from yesterday's sheriff court session

    Assault after heated exchanges

A FATHER intervened when he saw his daughter trying to resolve some difficulties with her boyfriend, Kevin Wilson, when the three happened to meet in Traill Street, Thurso, late one night.
It was stated that the couple were trying to patch up their relationship, but the father, Johnathan Wood intervened and took exception to his daughter speaking to Wilson. Matters became heated and culminated in Wilson reached over a passer-by, who had tried to calm things down, and punched Mr Wood on the bridge of his nose.
Mr Barclay said that there was no alcohol involved in the incident, on May 27, and added: “I think it was a combination of people being in the same place at the same time.”
Wilson (25) of Smith Terrace, Wick, admitted the assault and had sentence deferred until September 16 for reports.

    Accused of dangerous driving

A WICK man is facing a series of charges including dangerous driving.
Scott Wares, of Northcote Street, Wick, pleaded not guilty and will stand trial on November 10.
The charges allege that he drove dangerously on the Latheron-Wick road, overtook a line of vehicle at excessive speed on wet road conditions and reduced visibility, and at speeds of up to 90mph, past a sheep and a stationary car on the road.
Wares (23) is also accused of driving carelessly in Neil Gunn Road, Dunbeath, and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at a house in the village and causing damage there and committing an assault at another house, locally.
The offences are alleged to have occurred on May 15.
