    HOPE
    (And the other two)

    The pattern of our daily life
    Is much beset by strife.

    What gives it quality and zest
    Is quite simply the acid test.


    In those dread days of the last World War
    When Hitler stood at our very door,

    Three heroes rose into the air
    To send the beast back to his lair.

    These three though named in jest
    Were proved to be the very best.


    FAITH, HOPE and CHARITY.
    (These were the names given to 3 Gloucester Gladiators who played a significant part in the aerial battle for Britain.)
