    I see there's a John McKid ( Tacksman) buried in Watten ( rail enclosed ) 11.9.1829.

According to the Sinclair Family Tree on Ancestry his wife Jean Forbes Taylor died in Canada 1803
    Two children are listed - Alexander 1804 - 1872
    John 1808 - 1854 Australia.
( Maybe you are the Sinclair family ??)
    Good luck

There's a Death Notice in the John O Groat Journal dated Sept 27 1850 -
MacKid, Mrs Jean relict of John MacKid age 71 at Goderich, Huron, West Canada.

both names are with the 'a' MacKid - sorry I made an error in the above !

There might be 12 children - Sofia?? and Benjamin these two are living in Caithness in 1841 with Jean?Jane along with Elizabeth, Ralph and Jean/Jane. They were born before John died but could be grandchildren I suppose.
haven't found anything more about John Mackid, Tacksman of Watten

Know more about Jean and her Taylor family.

I have a long line back from Jean's mother Jean Rose Ross to Lord Culloden and the Barons of Kilravock.
