    Two killed in Caithness crash

A ROAD accident near Reay has claimed the lives of a motorbike driver and his female passenger.
Their machine was in collision with a car at Drumhollistan, on Saturday afternoon, and burst into flames. Firefighters from Wick and Thurso attended at the scene. The woman driver of the car and one of her passengers were taken to Caithness General Hospital. The road, the A836 was closed for seven hours while officers from Northern Constabulary’s road policing unit, carried out their on-the-spot investigation.
Police are appealing for the driver of a van which was travelling west and was being overtaken by the motorcycle, prior to the collision, to contact them on 01463 715555.
A report on the fatal accident is to be submitted to the procurator fiscal at Wick. Details of the deceased, both age 45, are not being released meantime.
The fatalities brought the number of biker deaths on Highland roads, to 21 since the beginning of 2009.
