Default Cannabis was produced at former U.S. base

Raid uncovered production and supply operations

A FORMER secret communications base, established in Caithness during the Cold War made a criminal comeback, as a cannabis factory, a court heard yesterday
    .
Arrested in a police raid at the secret base at West Murkle, were three Chinese, Ah Bing Zheng, Wan Yue Lin.
Zheng (31) admitted producing the cannabis, at the complex, the court at Inverness was told. Lin (33) pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of the drug, there and Chen (26) admitted to being concerned in the supply of it, at a house in Wick.
Zheng was not present during yesterday’s proceedings and is now being held at Dungavel Immigration Removal Centre in South Lanarkshire. Interpreters were employed to facilitate the hearing. The case was continued to August 16 for social inquiry reports.
Officers from Northern Constabulary and the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency were involved in the swoop on the disused American base. It was the latest in a series of successful swoops which have uncovered cannabis factories in the Highlands over the past five years.
