    Saturday 6th August
    5.00pm Children’s Fancy Dress judging in Sir John’s Square. Birth to 16 years, entry free
    5.45pm Adult Fancy Dress judging, Sir John’s Square, 13 years and above, entry free.
    6.15pm Mina MacKay’s Highland Dancers Display, Sir John’s Square.
    6.15pm Judging of Floats & prize presentation, Sinclair Street, entry free.
    7.00pm Gala Queen Crowning Ceremony, Sir John’s Square, Guest Speaker Clr Willie Mackay, MC Bob Johnson
    7.30pm Parade of Floats & Fancy Dress Walkers, led by Wick & Thurso Pipe Bands including the Gala Queen
    & Court with their Guard of Honour The Sea Cadets,
    7.30pm Stalls/Tables Precinct, Contact info@thurso.org to book a place, please provide your own table and cover.
    Candy Floss, Kid’s mini ride and face painting
    8.00pm Caithness and North Sutherland Childrens Choir then Local Bands, precinct. Donations welcome
    8.30pm Pipe Band & Highland Dancers Display, Princess Street. Donations welcome
    9.30pm Pub Entertainment, Holborn Hotel. Chicken Pickers. Donations welcome

    12noon Strongman Competition, Next to Beach car Park
    1.00pm "SCRUFTS" SSPCA Novelty Dog Show at the Beach. Entry £1 per class.
    2.00pm Beach Party (weather permitting), sponsored by the Comm Hotel. Race of Tasar & Laser Yachts.
    Jet Skiing & other water demonstrations, The Big Band, Face Painting, Big C Inflatables,
    Goblins Electric Car Kit Demonstration by Caithness Primary Schools & other events.
    6.30pm Car Treasure Hunt, starting in Janet Street & returning to the Thurso Club for results, entry £5 per car.

    2-4.00pm Museum activities, Caithness Horizons, call 01847 896508 for booking and info.
    7.30pm Youth Show Case, Mount Pleasant School. Display of various talents, entry adults £3, kids £1
    Tuesday 9th August
    2-3.00pm Under 7 years Teddy Bears Picnic & games, Thurso Club, prizes for best dressed teddies, entry £2.
    7.30pm Family Bingo, Royal British Legion, books are usual prices, entry £1.
    Wednesday 10th August
    2.00pm Under 7 years Messy Play, Thurso Club, entry £2.50, wear old clothes, adult supervision required.
    2-4.00pm Museum activities, Caithness Horizons, call 01847 896508 for booking and info.
    6.55pm 3K fun run/walk is open to all ages but under 8 years must be accompanied by an adult, entry £4.
    7.00pm 10K run - (over 15years only), entry £8
    Registration at Thurso Youth Club, Millbank, Thurso from 6.00-6.45pm, Enter on the day.

    8-12pm Fishing Competition, Thurso Beach meet at 7pm. Catch & Release. Entry £10 all monies returned in prizes

    1100am Under 11 years Seven a-side Football, pre selected teams only at the Dammies, spectators most welcome.
    1.00pm It’s A Knockout, Dammies Entry £30 per teams of six , Big C inflatables, Comm Bar, Archery & other events
    2.00pm Baby show, Dammies £2 per Baby.

    Gala Programme Extras

    "Molecules Treasure Hunt" run by the British Science Association (Caithness Branch). Models of molecules will be placed in different shops around town and it is your job to try and work out which shop or retailer will be displaying each molecule. Hunt them down and tick them off. Entry forms will be available in Caithness Horizons and other retailers around the town, entry £1
    proceeds to Caithness Samaritans.

    Thurso Bowling Club, Gala pairs competition. Forms from K Boden, 31 Heathfield Road, 894635.
    Names must be in by 01/08/2011, entry £4 per pair proceeds to the bowling club.
    Sea Boat Fishing Competition, contact Harpers Fishing Tackle shop for more info.
    Thurso School’s Annual Gala Competition, Topic - Recycling, entries will be Displayed in Caithness Horizons.

    New Prize for Floats, We are pleased to announce a new category this year for Floats called Best Improvised. This is
    for any non professional Float that has been put together at short notice.

    Float Fund, It is at the discretion of TTIA to award up to £50 per float taking part in the Gala Parade, prize winning
    floats are excluded. You may register floats by emailing info@thurso.org by 31st July 2011.

    Colouring Competitions, Red Herring etc are available from Cairngorm windows from the 5th August. All competitions apart
    from the photo & molecules must be returned to Cairngorm Windows by Monday 15th August 12.00 noon


    COLLECTION CANS & BUCKETS may be obtained from 21 Sinclair Street from 4pm-9pm on Saturday the 6th August 2011

    Photographs: Any photos taken by TTIA or approved photographers may be used in future promotions or on Social
    Networks such as facebook.

    Participating in or running the following activities will be at your own risk, TTIA’s Insurance does not cover you:
    The Gala Parade, Its A Knockout or Strongman competitions, any water or beach events, fun runs or walks, races,sports, archery, side-shows or inflatables, animal events, car boot sales, running a stall or sales table, operating machinery
    or vehicles. Anything not run by the TTIA personally is classed as third party.
    Some events may be covered by the other group’s own insurance.
