Abduction, assault and threats alleged

A WICK man is facing charges of abducting a woman, assaulting her and threatening the police.
Stephen Stewart appeared from custody at Wick Sheriff Court today, and pleaded not guilty.
The charges allege that Stewart, of Argyle Square, Wick, tried to prevent the woman leaving a house in the town’s Kennedy Terrace, threatened her with violence and physically stopped her from leaving and detained her against her will.
Stewart (42) is also alleged to have threatened to choke one police officer to death and threatened to slit another constable’s throat.
Bail was refused and the accused was remanded in custody. He will return to court for his trial on August 18.
