Operations suspended at slaughterhouse
Owner hopeful of re-opening
A LACK of trade has led to the mothballing of the Mid-Keiss slaughterhouse and processing business according to the John O' Groat website.
The Caithness Beef and Lamb plant, which opened just over two years ago, has been idle for two months.
Owner, John Sutherland, said a lack of throughput had forced him to suspend the operation which employs 15 people. However, he is hopeful the plant, which replaced the long-established, small abattoir run by the company in Wick, will reopen soon.
