    Default Caithness planning applications

Swimming pool and school want to generate their own power

HIGHLAND councillors will consider two enterprising Thurso energy projects, later this month.
The first scheme at the town's high school would involve the installation of an external thermal storage unit, modification of the existing flue stack to accommodate a biomass boiler and the conversion of internal oil storage room to a biomass store. The application by Highland Council has the approval of planning officials who have recommended it be given the green light at the forthcoming meeting of the Caithness, Sutherland and Easter Ross Planning Applications Committee at Edderton, on June 28.
Also going with 'green', if approved is a similar scheme at Thurso swimming pool.
In a separate application it is planned to install heat pumps on the ground floor of the old town hall in High Street, Thurso, to connect unobtrusively, to the existing building’s infrastructure. All the applications have been made by Highland Council and officials have also recommended approval in the latter two.
Wick councillor Graeme Smith has applied for approval to carry out improvements to the roof of his home in the town's Breadalbane Crescent, and is also recommended for approval.
These applications have been made by Highland Council and are recommended for approval by officials.
