hey how r u getting on with ur laptop?

For performance i would initially advise a disk cleanup and a disk defrag (go to start menu> all programs > accessories > system tools) Also check for any programs running in the background that you dont need. you might see icons for these in the system tray (beside your clock) if there are a lot of programs running it can drain system resources resulting in poor performance but if you arent sure of the function of the program it is best to leave it until you are sure.

one more thing: go to the control panel > administrative tools > performance. now u will c a graph detailing system performance and underneath that there will be details of disk usage, memory usage and processor usage.

for memory the pages should be under 20 per second
for hard disk the avg disk queue length should be less than 50%
the processor time should be under 80%

anything over would point to a particular problem which could be resolved.

with regards to the internet connection problem, if your Internet Service Provider gave you a disk when you signed up to them you should put this into the computer as it often has a connection repair facility. im guessing you've tried the obvious: just turning the router off and back on, checking for any warning lights etc and also note any error messages on the laptop as these usually give good direction to the problem in hand.

    hope this helps
