Scottish Hydro investigate sub-station sites

PLANS are in progress to develop a new 132Kv sub-sea electricity connection between Orkney and Caithness.
The Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission Ltd development will see a new sub-station and electricity transmission network upgrades in Orkney. A spokesman for the company, said the upgrades will reinforce the network and allow extra capacity for new generators of electricity, to connect.
He said: “We are currently at the early stages of the project and have identified a number of proposed sites for the sub-station, all of which are located on the west coast of mainland Orkney.”
In order to engage with the local community and give them a chance to raise questions, ideas or comments as part of the development process, an exhibition was held at Harray community hall, on Thursday.
