Default Special wedding gift from Crossroads pupils

Castle present for the happy couple

AMONG the many presents William and Kate are receiving will be one from the far North of Scotland.
It is beautiful mosaic depicting the Castle of Mey. The idea was put forward by Maranda Thomson, from Harrow, who gifted the glass and ceramics and supervised the pupils of Crossroads Primary School, while constructing the 20in by 14in creation.
The present reflects the school’s long standing royal connection, firstly with the Queen Mother who for many years sent a Christmas cake to the school and, then with Prince Charles who continued the tradition on the death of his grandmother.
The mosaic will be handed over to the Duke of Rothesy, during his annual visit to the castle, in August. Meantime, the children have dispatched a giant wedding card to William and Kate. Pupils will watch the nuptials on the school's television before getting their own celebrations, a lunch followed by a ceilidh, underway.
