Surfer denies knife charge
A FRENCH surfer, involved in Thurso's recent Wave North festival, is to stand trial on a charge of possessing a cutlery knife in a local street.
Charles Martin from Saint-Francois, Guadeloupe, an archipelago in the Leeward Islands, pleaded not guilty when he appeared from custody at Wick Sheriff Court today. The charge alleges that he had the knife with an 11.2 cms serated blade, on him, in West George Street Thurso, on Monday. An interpretor was engaged to assist the accused in court.
The 21-year-old was granted bail, by Sheriff Andrew Berry, and will return to court on July 20th for his trial.
