    Cannabis and organised crime allegations


    TWO men are facing charges of producing and supplying cannabis in Caithness.
    Yuen Fai Lai, 48, of Ackergill Crescent, Wick and 25-year-old Ah Bing Zheng (pronounced CHEN) who lives in Main Street, Kilbirnie,made no plea or declaration when they appeared in private at Wick Sheriff Court, today.
    The pair are also accused of stealing electricity and being involved in serious,organised, crime. A Chinese interpreter from Edinburgh was employed to facilitate the hearing.
    Bail was opposed and both accused were remanded in custody pending further inquiry.

    Accused of Stanley knife threat

    A YOUNG Thurso woman is alleged to have put a teenager in a state of fear and alarm
    and threatened to slit her throat with a Stanley knife.
    Sixteen-year-old Sara Matthews, of Bower Court, Thurso, appeared from custody and denied the charge.
    The incident is alleged to have occurred in the town's Tesco store on Monday. The accused was granted bail will return to court for her trial on June 9.

    Double assault alleged

    A WICK man has been accused of a double assault, one on a man the other on a woman, and threatening and abusive behaviour.
    John Alexander Doull,35, appeared in private, and made no plea or declaration. He was released on bail pending further inquiry.
    The incidents are alleged to have occurred in the town, on March 25 and 29.
