    Well smart, I am still trying to get a viewing of the lights, let alone get a photo. Thanks for posting.

    One of the best displays in a long time,there has also been a lot of purple/red in the last 2 displays which of course our eyes cant see,unfortunately.

    it was a good display MPH,i did see the aurora maybe 7-8 years ago which was the brighest and most colourful i have ever seen,green and purple bluish streaks,all with the naked eye.it was amazing

    There was one in 2003 and another in 2001 when the aurora was overhead and you could make out the reds and purples,it was a KP 9 event(as good as it gets ) and there are on average,4 of these every solar cycle(11 years)so they are quite rare but thats what makes them so special.
