Foam/suds on Thurso River

Any one know why the Thurso river from time to time looks like someones bathed in it and used an entire bottle of body wash ?
Or is this due to the sewage treatment works ?

Most likely a mixture of different pollutants and run off from fields and drains

Most rivers, even the unpolluted ones, foam up regularly due to natural chemicals in the water. I've often seen it in the River Thurso. The water is regularly tested by SEPA...
