Sorry, my favourite biopic is probably Take Me Home - about John Denver, but then I could be biased...
In so far as true life stories are concerned, it has to be Molokai - not exactly light entertainment, but I defy anyone to watch it and feel no sort of compassion or emotion.

Now if you like a tear jerker based on a true story, make sure that you watch "HACHICO A DOGS STORY", This really got to me, it stars Richard Gere, have your box of tissues close by , a great film for any age group, if this does not get to you , you must have a heart of stone.
The Changling, a gripping true story
Once the original Grumpy Owld Man but alas no more
Papillion, with Steve McQueen.
Riding in cars with boys or Angelas Ashes. Those are my 2 top favourites! Both fantastic films!
I SWORE ON ONE THREAD!
GET OVER IT!!!!!
Has to be Schindlers List for me, best true story for me
Once the original Grumpy Owld Man but alas no more
'Gorillas in the Mist' - gets me every time!
"Touching the Void" is an obvious choice, even if it's listed as a 'documentary' film. In the extended edition, it's very interesting to see how the relationship between the two mountaineers has been affected by the whole experience.
For a less than obvious choice, how about "Escape to Victory", based on a rather less successful but no less heroic episode.
"It makes my blood burn with metal energy..."
mine has to be either the Magdalene sister or the entity
I wouldn't be caught dead with a necrophiliac.
Into The Wild was a film that stuck in my memory long after watching. The book on this was also very good.
