    Default Pheasant

I've just had a visit from a male pheasant - he spent some time picking grain from under the bird feeders, and then had a peck at some of the seed heads - are they getting desperate for food, as I've never had one visit before.

I had a male pheasant at my back door a few weeks ago, when the snow was really deep. Judging from his footprints, he'd been round the bird feeders before that, but when I opened the window to throw some food out for him he took off and hasn't been back since. I can still hear him in the vicinity though.
