    Default Humpback Whales 30-12-2010

This afternoon while watching from Swiney Hill, Lybster i spotted 2 HUmpback Whales. The first one i saw was just 800m off shore. I grabbed my camera and waited for it to resurface. It was 20min later when i saw 2 come to the surface much further East and about 1k out, i tried for a picture but the camera failed to auto focus because of the fog that was moving in from the East i switched to manual but it was far to late they had vanished into the fog.
Over the last 6 years i have only had 3 sightings of HUmpback Whales off the Caithness coast all 3 have been from Swiney Hill. This was a very lucky and rare sighting for Caithness waters.
