Mince and Tatties by Bruce Sandison
For Mrs Bruce
by Bruce M Sandison
Of a' the food that's set before
An eager, hungry laddie,
There's nane sae welcome, or adored,
As honest mince and tattie.
For foreign dish, drear feckless fare,
I care na' but a ha'penny,
Gie me the wholesome, glorious glare
O' honest mince and tattie.
And when December's icy blaw
Assaults our shivering body,
Who could want, or ask for mair,
Than honest mince and tattie.
Then, should some dunnarts scorn this dish
They're not but senseless asses,
The finest food in all the land
Is honest mince and tatties.
So save your fancy French cuisine
For cleverer other faddies,
Just set me doon that cheerful pair,
Guid honest mince and tattie!
