restore to factory default at this stage and lose eveything?
where you have the option that says
start windows normally
use the up arrow key and select
safemode command prompt only
if that works
you'll eventually get to a screen with a flashing cursor _
type chkdsk c: /f /r <hit return/enter>
that should fix it.
all you've got is a corrupt profile for the login name that eveyone uses.
