Caithness Moths - Mottled Umber
The beautifully marked Mottled Umber is a late autumn to early winter moth which is just starting to appear and should be with us until mid-December. It is found in wooded habitats where the flightless female rests on tree trunks after dark attracting the males by pheromones. It overwinters as an egg.
