Thread: Sutherlands (Latheron/Wick/Halkirk?)

    Post Sutherlands (Latheron/Wick/Halkirk?)

I'm looking for information on a Sutherland family from the Latheron/Wick/Halkirk area, who I think raised my g-g-grandfather.

    From the 1871 census details:

Alexander Sutherland (Head) born around 1833
Christina Sutherland (Wife, Maiden name possibly Mckay) born 1833-ish
    Margaret (Daughter) born 1859ish
    Robert (Son) born around 1862
    Elisabeth (Daughter) born 1864ish
    William (Son) born about 1866

If anyone has information on this family, please pm me. I do have some more details, but prefer to trade that information privately.

    Thanks in advance

    /Martin

Where were the family living at the time of the 1871 census. The names are far too common to make an immeadiate connection

1871 I think reads Spittal Roadside, Parish of Halkirk
1881 Might have been Stanstill, Bower

Alexander Sutherland appears to be listed as a labourer at Flagstone (street?) Quarry on the 1871 census. He, and his Wife Christina were born in Latheron, Margaret was born in Wick, Robert in Latheron, Elisabeth, William, and Christina (Age 9, 1881 census) all born in Halkirk.
