The Highland Council's Transport Environmental and Community Services Committee has agreed to roll out alternate weekly waste collections to communities across the Highlands as the Council endeavours to be more efficient in the way it delivers services and save up to £500,000 in the process. With the introduction of garden waste bins and the boxes for papers, it was a foregone conclusion for me that a fortnightly collection of household waste was on the cards.

we would need to have full sized blue bins for this to work and we only have tiny ones that newspapers are put in just now, so unless they give us the proper "wheelie bins" to recycle its not going to work .....

Our blue bin is always full to overflowing and during the summer so is the brown one.

We are lucky to have transport to go to the recycle centre, but for those who don't it could be hard going.

How many will take all the excess wrapping back to the shops for them to recycle, I wonder lol.
