Caithness Moths - Plain Clay
The attractively marked Plain Clay does not deserve its name. It is designated as UK National Scarce Status B, meaning that it has only been recorded in between 31 and 100 of the 10km grid squares throughout the United Kingdom. This is the second record for Caithness. A moth of broadleaved woodlands the adult is on the wing in July and August and it overwinters as a small larva.
