Default Postcard (and other photographs) database

The University of St Andrews houses (among others) the Valentine Postcard Collection. Starts in 19th century.

It would not be legal to copy any of them here, but anyone may access them at:

    http://special.st-andrews.ac.uk/saspecial/

Just type a relevant word (e.g. Wick or Caithness) into the "Search Images" box at the left hand side of the webpage, and press the Go button.

You'll get some false results (like postcards from Inverness) but its worth a look.

    Jim,

Many thanks for posting that link! I have had fun looking at various old postcards today. Not only of Caithness, but also the towns my parents were from, and Edinburgh. Still have to check out Aberdeen and various other places. The site will keep me entertained for quite a while!

    Cheers,

    Sporran

No. Distant relation from our Orkney roots.

Son of James Bews who was minister of Wick Central and West churches from about 1950 to 1967.

    Hello Jim,

I remember your father at Assemblies in the High School; very well liked and respected by all. I actually listened to him when he talked as he made his services interesting and real.
