Internet Usage Meter

My ISP has advised me that I'm nearing the 40GB limit of my monthly Usage Allowance. This seems to be a fairly new phenomenon since as far as I’m aware my Broadband usage hasn’t changed in recent years; either that or BT have become increasingly vigilant.
Can anyone recommend a free 'Internet Usage Meter' I can download from a reputable source?

There is a meter built in to the BT Homehub if you have one.

I have the older white model and if you type (or click on) http://bthomehub.home your browser should go to the home hub where you will see how much you have downloaded.
You need to reset the hub every month to reset the counters.

Assuming you're using a Windows pc, I've been using NetMeter (freeware) for almost 3 years, which is a fully-customisable, real-time bandwith monitoring program.
The window, which you can have on-screen or hidden, has many options which you can access by right-clicking and will also give you real-time, weekly, monthly or even 'projected' reports.

Yep, I can recommend NetMeter too. Been using it for yonks, mainly just to assess my download/upload speeds at any given time.

As a freeware monitoring tool it has few faults, the main one being that it doesn't (or can't) monitor your router traffic. It just tracks your PC's traffic and not any other PCs on your LAN/WAN.

Still, it's a cracking bit of software.
