The rather small (forewing length only 12/13mm) Oblique Carpet is uncommon in Caithness (this is only the seventh record and the first since 1996) and local and thinly distributed throughout the UK. This one was difficult to photograph so the quality of the image is not good. It is found in wetlands and damp woodlands with the adult flying in July. The larvae feed on Marsh and Heath Bedstraws and over winter as a larva.
