The Small Fan-foot is an attractively marked small moth (wing length ca 12mm) which had not been recorded in Caithness before this year, but which has now been found at two sites. It is one of those species that has probably benefited from climate change as it was previously thought to range only as far north as Ross-shire. It has been found in broadleaved woodlands and flies from June to August. It over winters as a pupa concealed in a bark crevice or in plant debris.
