Normally associated with high moorland and other upland habitats, Small Argent & Sable has only been recorded from two lowland sites in Caithness in the north east of the County. This small moth, wing length only about 12mm, can be found flying during the day and is present from June to early July. It overwinters as a pupa in a cocoon on the ground and the larvae feed only on Heath Bedstraw.
