In the UK, Saxon, is classified as Nationally Scarce, Status B meaning that in the whole of the UK it has been recorded only from between 31 and 100 of 10km squares since 1980. It has not been previously recorded in Caithness and the one pictured was one of eight caught at a new site on remote moorland. The adult is on the wing from late May and June having over wintered as a larva.
