"dead" horse

I've just looked out of my window and seen my yearling lay prone, flat out on his side in the field with all his legs sticking out like a dead thing - in the pouring down rain. I had to go out and poke him to make sure he was still with us

I didn't know horses lay like cows - I've never seen it before. Or maybe he has been learning of all the stirks that got into our field a couple of months back. That was fun - trying to work out which was the black horse in a field of black cows...

In the pouring rain?!?! lol what's he like!! I hate seeing them lying flat out... usually feel the need to go over and give them a wee prod in the ribs just to be sure they're still with us!
