The non-descript Satyr Pug is a weakly marked soft grey-brown. The leading edge of the forewing is very straight with a pointed tip and black and white chequered veins. The adults fly in May and June having over wintered as a pupa. It is most common on upland habitats, where it often fllies in the late afternoon, but is also found in open woodland with a good flower base to provide food for the larvae.
