    Default Cainsbay Show help...

hey i am thinking about entering horsey in a few classes never done a show before and just looking for some general advice on turn out of the horse and myself.

Thinking about doing ridden class and inhand class, he is a 14.3hh cob type, his mane is pulled at the mo and he lost all his feathers in the mud this winter so not really sure how he should be shown? Also for myself do i need long riding boots?

    any help appreciated

Hey - I have a cob type too and going to Canisbay - its a great show - you will enjoy it. The following web site is very good for advice.

    http://www.britishshowhorse.org/

I also find it quite helpful to look at the cobs for sale on the horsequest website because it contains many photos of cobs in the showring. By comparing your horse with those you may get a better idea of what would suit yours best (either the hogged / trimmed show cob look or the traditional cob look with feathers and mane left on). If you can make yourselves look like them in the pictures, you wont be far wrong. But most of all dont worry to much about whats right and wrong...just make the best of what you have and go enjoy yourself!!
