Caithness Moths - Golden-rod Pug
As a group, the pugs can be difficullt to identify, but this Golden-rod Pug is well marked and showing the characteristc white tuft at the base of the thorax.
It has been only locally recorded in Caithness, but I suspect that it is under recorded and that most larger areas of broad leaved woodland will have a small population. It is rarely recorded away from light traps. It flies in May and June.
