Marbled Coronet is most commonly, although not exclusively, found in coastal districts. It is one the wing from late May into July having over wintered as a pupa in an underground cocoon. In the northern part of their range the base colour is strongly tinted dark olive green, as in this example, with dullish yellow markings. In the south they are more greyish black with whitish markings.
