Hi LIZZ
It's a Northern Eggar (Lasiocampa quercus callunae).
nirofo.
The caterpillar was aprox. 5cms long, found on the edge of the peat bog, wondering if any one knows what it will turn into?
The fungi was growing in a patch of moss in the bog.
As you will gather, been out tramping the hills, also saw a small frog and two lovely moths who unfortunately did hang about to get their pictures taken!

Thank you nirofo, will have to keep my eye open for when it turns into that rather splendid moth.
