    Default Split Peas

I'm a bit confused about the different types. I saw someone on telly making pea and ham soup that was a green colour but can't work out what they used. I have a bag of dried peas and a bag of split yellow peas. Also been told if I use the dried peas the skins will be floating about in the soup.
Can anyone tell me what I should be using?

You get green split peas - dried - I think I posted a recipe on here for soup made wi them and leeks - very nice! Frozen peas also make boss and really easy pea soup!
