Caithness Moths - Chestnut
Chestnut is another species which emerges in the Autumn and over winters as an adult. It will often reappear as early as February if the weather is suitable, but in winters such this year it will delay appearance until early Spring. A very variable moth it can easily be overlooked among other brown species, but is distinguished by the rounded forewing, a feature not shared by other brown moths flying at the same time.
