Nightclub assault denied

Wick man accused of causing severe injury

A WICK man is facing a serious nightclub assault charge.
Craig Andrew Johnstone, 32, pleaded not guilty when he appeared at Wick Sheriff Court today.
The indictment alleges that, at the Silver Darlings section of Wick's Waterfront nightclub. Johnstone, of 10 Coghill Street, Wick, assaulted Paul Aitchison and pushed him, causing him to fall and hit his head on the floor and lose consciousness, to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement and impairment.
The incident is said to have occurred on August 24 last year. A date for the trial is expected to be fixed on June 11 when preparations for the prosecution and defence cases should be finalised.
