Sheriff's doubts about accused's work ethic

Bridge might not get finished if jobseeker was employed on it
A SHERIFF expressed doubts about the completion of the Kessock Bridge contract, if a jobless Thurso man secures employment on it.
The accused, Martin Gunn, 34, who has missed appearances at Wick Sheriff Court, arrived late yesterday and he was said to have been job hunting in Inverness with the bridge contract a possibility.
Gunn, of Queen's Tr, Thurso, previously, admitted having been in possession of amphetamine at Latheron, on January 25, last year.
He appeared recently, having been arrested for his tardiness. The case was continued until yesterday for a background report.
Sheriff Andrew Berry ordered Gunn to carry out 135 hours of unpaid community work and commented: "You failed to turn up here previously and appeared late today. I dread to think that if you get work on the Kessock Bridge, the contract might never get finished."
