Fire threat accused escapes jail

Sheriff warns of consequences in the event of re-offending

A woman, who has repeatedly threatened to damage her local police stations, has has again escaped a jail sentence.
Joanne Peacher's latest offence was a threat to set fire to Thurso police station. She has three previous convictions for threatening to petrol bomb Wick police station.
Peacher, 46, made her latest threat to Police Scotland's control room in Inverness on December 9. from a call box in Rotterdam Street in Thurso. Suspicion fell on the accused who pleaded guilty and said she had no intention of carrying out the fire threat.
Wick Sheriff Court was told that she was on three different types of medication at the time and had been suffering from depression and would benefit from a further spell of unpaid work. Her previous threat attracted a sentence of 200 hours unpaid work.
Sheriff Andrew Berry who heard today that Peacher, of 23 Meadow Court, Thurso, was doing well with the work, added an additional 50 hours to the current community duty after considering a background report, yesterday, but warned Peacher about the consequences of any further re-offending.
