Shouted and swore at police, sheriff is told

THERE was “blood everywhere” when police arrived at a house in Wick to investigate a disturbance.
They found Adam Hope injured and in an intoxicated state, Wick Sheriff Court was told yesterday.
Instead of explaining what had happened at the house in Wellington Street, Wick, the accused began to shout and swear at the officers and was arrested.
However, the 21-year-old didn’t go quietly. When the police attempted to handcuff Hope, he tensed his arms and pulled them away, said David Barclay prosecuting. Hope was taken to hospital for treatment. While waiting to be attended to, Hope became agitated and again started to shout and swear and refused medical help.
Solicitor Neil Wilson said that the simple truth of the matter was that Hope had had “far too much to drink”. The reported disturbance appeared to have involved Hope getting badly assaulted.
Hope, of Neil Gunn Road, Dunbeath, was bruised about the face when he appeared from custody and admitted threatening or abusive behaviour, on October 4, and resisting arrest.
Remanding Hope in custody until October 22, pending reports, Sheriff Andrew Berry said that the accused’s recent convictions gave him no confidence that he would comply with bail conditions.
