Having been through the USA 'Homeland' rigmarole of fingerprints taken, face and iris photograph taken - think 'our' security could be beefed up - but then that again pales against going through the 'Iron Curtain' in 1975 when as a (British Military) at the Helmstedt-Marienborn DDR border at 03.00 when not supposed to be there.. most unnerving time in my life.
When in Europe (we ain't Europe!) 40-50 years ago it was simple to walk across any border, usually a marker post in a forest, or a single rusty wire strand a couple of feet high.. my God how time's change!
